The United States wishes to express that its remarks were not intended to offend the European nations accommodating refugees or insinuate that their efforts have been inadequate. Rather the United States is merely drawing attention to examples of anti-refugee sentiment and unsafe passage of refugees to emphasise the need for coordinated response in this matter.
The United States has always supported the fundamental rights and freedoms inalienable to all human beings and is committed to combatting grave humanitarian crises and understands Germany shares this objective. This is exemplified by the large scale direct financial assistance it has provided. Enabling the passage of refugees poses within itself its own risks and difficulties (especially in terms of integrating those people into societies) and thus controlled migration is deemed as key to resolving the matter. Furthermore, cooperative discussion should be entered into to formulate a long term solution to the Syrian refugee crisis and the Syrian civil war.
The United States is more than happy to maintain strong relation with Germany and hopes to reach diplomatic solution agreeable to all on the situation.
