The United States wishes to emphasise that the pressing issue of global climate change and depleting resources poses one of the most fundamental threats to all contemporary societies. Thus the United States urges all nations to reach a cooperative agreement to establish meaningful long term emission reduction strategies. The United States believes that such efforts can be implemented in a manner which may still provide economic growth, especially within developing countries whose primary focus is upon promoting prosperity. In this regard the United States strongly disagrees with the Russian Federation’s remarks that the US way of thinking is harmful and extremely irresponsible.
