Catalonia has voted to secede from Spain, with 68% voting in favour of independence. The Catalan government has declared independence with immediate effect, and has applied to join the UN, the EU and NATO. The Spanish government has condemned the move, announcing that the "so called Catalan Government" will be prosecuted for treason to the Spanish Crown and people.
