The size of the rare earth metals find in the Baltics has
tripled in size.
Following further surveys of the geological find in
Lithuania, it has been discovered that the deposit extends northwards, well
into Estonia and Latvia, along the Eastern borders of all three. The resource
field is now by far and away the largest collection of rare earth metal
deposits in the world – if a country was able to control the entire field, they
would be able to completely break China’s monopoly, and could (if they so
chose) massively capitalise on the resources. Economic analysts cannot stress
enough the economic, political and strategic value of the find.
